ABSTRACT

Chuan Ya Wai Bian (External Therapies of Folk Medicine), compiled by ZHAO Xue-min, a medical expert in Qing Dynasty, is abundant in folk external therapies including acupuncture, moxibustion, acupoint sticking therapies, which all have unique features. Folk acupuncture-moxibustion is an important part of acupuncture- moxibustion therapy, playing a role that can't be replaced by conventional acupuncture-moxibustion. It's worth exploring and needs constant improvements to adapt to the requirement of modern medicine, which is also significant for boosting the development of acupuncture-moxibustion therapy.

ABSTRACT

is a profound book byfor acupuncture-moxibustion development. Twenty-five articles about arranging the book were analyzed in China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) from 1980 to 2015. It is considered that the versions spread are clear, and literature quoted is abundant but needed to be further sorted. Also, academic thoughts with value were deeply explored in terms of acupoint, moxibustion, acupuncture-moxibustion case, contraindication and health preserving. However, shortages about contemporary research exist, such as less exploration on historical cultural background of the book, the humanistic spirit of, the rule of acupoint application and the treatment experie-nce. We should pay attention to the above points so as to further systematically study its academic thought.
